(L&PTD)
Laser and Plasma Technology Division is responsible for the development of
Electron Beam Generating Machines of different powers useful for a wide variety of applications involving welding, melting and evaporation of various metals not susceptible to commonly used techniques.
 |
High flux electron beam is produced from a suitable source and these electrons are further energized by guiding them
through externally placed electromagnetic fields of appropriate strength and finally the beam is subjected to fine tuning/shaping before focusing the beam on the target.
L&PTD has the technical know how and expertise for the indigenous design and development of EB machines. Right from modeling, computer aided simulated studies, finalisation of the design parameters followed by the fabrication, assembling, testing and trial runs are carried out for the performance evaluation of the developed machine. EB machines have got large number of applications ranging from strategic defence requirements, industrial applications, space applications to other research & development studies. Machines ranging from low power coating systems and welding units to high power metal melters and strip beam evaporators have been developed. |
